Description
Nestled in northeast Missouri, Wakonda State Park, composed of land that once was mined of gravel used to surface Missouri's secondary highways, has been transformed into a recreation area featuring six lakes, hiking and bicycling trails, and a rare sand prairie. The clear lake waters attract thousands of waterfowl such as Canada geese, snow geese, mallards, snowy egrets and great blue herons during the migratory seasons. The lakes also offer anglers a chance at catching largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish. Two of the lakes have boat ramps. Non-motorized jonboats and canoes can be rented at the park office
