Description |
Located on the Beautiful Susquehanna River
2 miles South of Historic Lewisburg, PA. on State Route 405.
Open April 1 - October 31 (Reserve your weekends early!)
Few motorcycle campgrounds have the exhilarating rides that the Susquehanna River and beautiful Appalachian Mountains have to offer.
Many biker friendly campgrounds offer primitive tent camping, but we also have tent rental with air mattress/bedding/towels, RV sites with full/partial hook-up, nightly deluxe RV rental, deluxe bunkhouse RV with luxury amenities, and furnished tent cabins. Steel Steeds Motorcycle Campground is far from the beaten path, so you can enjoy the laid-back, relaxed atmosphere, and ask about folk lore, facts, and local attractions.
The campgrounds location is within 2 to 4 hours of Philadelphia, New York City, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore, so it is centrally located for small gatherings and it is also close enough to major cities to have plenty of attendees for a large motorcycle rally. Within 5 miles there are major chain stores, restaurants, and convenience stores so attendees have everything they need close by. If you are interested in having a motorcycle event at Steel Steeds Motorcycle Campground just go to our "contact us" page.

Bob and Diane have a great setup on the Susquehana river and the facilities are excellent. My wife and I rented a cabin tent and they supplied towels beds blankets etc. It is a place that makes you feel welcome. If you want to get away for a day or longer I would recommend stopping here. The mood is relaxing and laidback. Will be back there soon Bernie |

Bob and Diane, we are one of your seasonals. I want to make a note; your place is kept very tidy. We all enjoy ourselves and have a good time. Nights at the fire while meeting new people from places like New Jersey, Maryland and Allentown. Also all the convience you have there. We hope you have good luck and you blossom toward your dreams in the near future.

Owned and operated by a biker family. They have several huge cabin tents on raised platforms with queen size bed (not a cot, box spring and mattress), electric, a lamp, a fan, a porch and fire ring. They supply the sheets, towels (bath, hand and wash cloth), will loan you a cooler if you need it, have a grill you can use and huge fire pit. They also have smaller dome tents with air mattresses, sheets, towels, electric, etc. Or fully equipped RVs. And the roads around there are fantastic. All beautifully paved, winding and scenic. Oh, and there's a biker bar "Mindy's" right next door. No food but AC, cold beer, pool table and juke box. Owner of the campground are very nice and generous people.
One criticism is that it's not a back to nature kind of camping experience. Kind of an open field, lit up next to a road. And some clubs stay there sometimes and can be a little loud when partying. But it's a great place to crash while riding around the area during the day and having a good time around the fire at night.
And the best is that nearby is PA State Route 125 from Shamokin to Pine Valley. Run, don't walk, to your bike, jump on and get out there. That is if you like about 20 miles of 180 degree turns up 30 degree inclines, multiple hairpins and switchbacks all running across 4 ridge lines on a nicely paved and hardly used road. Immense concentration required, and a guaranteed smile on your face when you make it through.

Had a great time! This place is a great spot for real campers. Friendly, clean and good time ready. We stayed here for a friends birthday weekend last summer and can't wait to head out that way again. Highly recommended, Aj and Sharyn. |

To plan a group trip can be difficult but dealing with Bob and Diane makes planning the portion of it much easier. For Memorial Day Weekend, we had riders coming in from Georgia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. As each group arrived, Bob and Diane were there to welcome us to our new home for the weekend. When people talk about atmosphere, this place is the place to go. The next time our group is getting together in PA, trust me when I say it will be at STEEL STEEDS CAMP. Thanks for all the great times and memories, Kevin. |

We pull a timeout camper on most of our trips but when we go to SSC we just take some clothes like Bob the owner says all you need is your toothbrush and some jammies. For the biker who wants to try to camp and bike at the same time this is your opportunity. They supply damn near everything.
For the biker who likes to camp, it ain't too bad either.

My boyfriend and I have been camping at steel steeds for the last 2 years and love it. One time we asked Bob to point us in the direction of a nice ride and he responded by saying hold on a min. and got on his bike and showed us a real good time. Lisa |

Bob and Diane are amazing people! We have been going to Steel Steeds for 2 years now, the 1st time we went, we were lost so Bob made a huge bon fire to help us find our way. We have been to many campgrounds, and Steel Steeds stands alone, no one comes close, they are not just owners of a campground, they are friends! God bless you both! We hope you survived the floods, for we hope to come up next month! If your a biker and looking for a clean, friendly place to kick back, Steel Steeds can't be beat. Thanks for all you guys do to insure everyone feels at home! |

A large group of us went up for the July 4th holiday and had a fantastic weekend. So much so that we're all going back in 2012. Bob & Diane were more than accommodating to our every need. So much so that even though they were booked full they rented out their own personal pull behind trailer so that one of our members could have a place to stay. This may just become an annual event for us. |

Visited last weekend 9/21/12-9/23/12. Had a great time. Bob & Diane treat you like family. Enjoyed the campfire at the WOK. Dropped in Mindy's Tavern right next door. Nice little roadside watering hole. Visted Bill's Old Bike Barn (a must see) up in Bloomsburg about a 40 minute ride. A very relaxing weekend to say the least.
Recommend to anyone.

Steel Steeds is up and running. Google Maps is showing the campground as (permanently closed), it is "NOT". We just vacationed there in July 2013 and it is open for fun. Had a wonderful time and our riding areas were beautiful. Bob can tell you different places to ride and they are all good.
We have been going there for the past 3 years and are planning on going back next year. Been to the Grand Canyon of PA, and Hyners Ridge, and both were great. The mountain riding on our bikes is so relaxing, I don't think the tail of the dragon has anything on route 535 over the mountains with the turns all the way up the mountain and down the other side. Its a bikers paradise running the Blue Ridge Mountains of PA. |

We do our biking on the pedal form, but this was a very convenient place for our travels. When we pulled in Bob was right there to escort us to our site. It was great, level site, good hook ups and the people around us were great. Bob was very attentive to everyone. We will stay again when in the area. |
