Description
This southwest Georgia park is on 37,500-acre Lake Seminole and is a scenic location for exploring, wildlife viewing, boating, and fishing. The lake is shallow, but natural lime sink ponds have left areas of cool, clear water with a variety of fish. The threatened gopher tortoise, Georgia's state reptile, makes its home in the park's longleaf pine forest. At 437 acres, this stand of trees is the largest group of longleaf pines in a Georgia state park. A 2.2-mile nature trail interprets this wiregrass community habitat. The park is located near one of Georgia's largest wildlife management areas covering 24,000 acres, providing great duck and deer hunting. Cottages and many campsites are situated on the water's edge, offering excellent lake views.
