Description |
This rustic 3-bedroom stone and wood cabin is located in the scenic Kendrick Park area. It has wonderful views of the San Francisco Peaks, Kendrick Mountain and the surrounding forest. It is located in an area that provides excellent hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding opportunities.
The cabin is suitable for groups of up to 10 people. Dogs are allowed but must remain outside. No more than 4 horses/mules permitted on the cabin grounds. Please clean up after all your animals. Off road vehicle users, recognize your role in protecting the wild lands surrounding Kendrick Cabin. Please tread lightly and stay on designated roads complying with regulations applicable to your vehicle. The cabin has running water from approximately late May to early October. There is a separate restroom building with a flush toilet, sink and shower that is usable between the above dates. When water is shut off in non-peak seasons, an outhouse toilet is available. Inside the cabin there are propane lights, a propane stove top (no oven) and a small refrigerator. There is a combined dining and living room with two queen size futons, dining table and chairs, and wood heating stove. It is furnished with one double bed downstairs and two twin beds in each of the two bedrooms upstairs. Kitchen supplies include pots, pans, utensils, dishes, stove top coffeepot and can opener. On the grounds is an outdoor BBQ grill, a fire ring and a picnic table. The cabin has small covered
front porch and open deck. Kendrick Cabin is located approximately 22 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona and is easily accessible off Hwy 180. The Grand Canyon is 58 miles from the cabin. Kendrick Cabin sits at 7,900 ft in elevation. Supplies you need to bring: Sheets, blankets (or sleeping bags) for one double bed, two queen futons and 4 single beds, pillows, flashlights, towels, garbage bags, warm clothes, dish washing liquid, dish towels. Bring an ax for splitting firewood and matches and newspaper for the woodstove. Lawn chairs are nice for the summer time. Cell phone coverage in this area can be fair. Pack out all food and trash when checking out of cabin. A cabin manual is located inside of the cabin to answer cabin specific questions during your stay as well as provide you with area recreational information. Cabin has no electricity or phone and all appliances and lighting are run on propane. Instructions for use of all propane adapted items is located in the cabin manual inside the cabin.
Please bring garbage bags. This facility is "Pack it in. Pack it out." ATVs/ORVs allowed on designated roads only.
Fires built in the cabin's woodstove or in the firering and/or barbeque grill outside of the cabin must be completely extinguished and cold to the touch before leaving the cabin for the day and before checking out of the cabin at the end of your reservation. Often the summer season brings fire restrictions on National Forest Lands where this cabin is located. When such restrictions are in place, information will be posted at the cabin for your convenience. If a Forest Closure is implemented, this cabin will also be closed. Check with the reservation service about the refund policy in this event.
There are no housekeeping services. Guests are required to clean up after themselves while staying in the cabin. This includes washing dishes, sweeping, wiping down countertops, etc. Cleaning supplies are provided. This cabin's water is hauled in from Flagstaff. Please be conservative with water use at this facility in order to keep costs down and do your part to conserve this resource in this arid region.
A three letter combination is required for the lock box containing the cabin key. The key to the restroom can be found on a nail inside the front door of the cabin, during peak season when water is available. During non-peak season when there is no water, the outhouse behind the cabin will remain unlocked.
